Bangkok Fieldtrip

This 3 week field research trip will be conducted in partnership with CODI (Community Organisation Development Institute), ACHR (Asian Coalition for Housing Rights) and local communities. The main objective is to develop a critical diagnosis of the Baan Mankong Collective Housing Programme and to propose a range of potential collaborative alternatives designed to contribute to a positive transformation of living conditions for the urban poor in Bangkok.

These alternative processes and strategies focus on the abstract and concrete materiality of the designated sites- housing, livelihoods, and, public realm combined with spatial integration in a wider context, giving voice to a critical reflection on the role of design, urban interventions and spatial agencies. Specific design interventions will be analysed within existing governance constructs.
